Principal and Sessions Judge visits Pulwama correctional home, reviews facilities

Pulwama 18 Oct 2019: Principal and Sessions Judge, Pulwama Mohammad Ibrahim Wani along with District Magistrate Pulwama Dr Raghav Langar and Secretary District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Khurshid ul Islam today visited Special Jail (Correctional Home ) at Pulwama to review the  general living conditions ,medicare and training facilities available here  for the inmates.

During the inspection of the jail premises, the Principal and Sessions Judge and DM Pulwama took stock of health/hygienic condition, Medical care, mess and water arrangements and other allied facilities being provided to the jail inmates.

 The duo also interacted with the inmates and enquired about the quality of food being provided and other facilities in the correction home. The jail inmates apprised them about issues being faced by them.

 On the occasion, Principal and Session Judge reiterated that the aim of the visit to jail is to find out the condition of inmates and basic facilities provided to them. He said imparting education and Skill Development Courses here will led jail inmates to live with dignity. He further said that the issues raised by Jail inmates will be discussed with District administration for early Redressal and also directs health officials for organizing a regular health checkup camps for  jail intimates.

Meanwhile, the DM urged upon inmates to take benefit of education and training facilities being provided in the Jail. He also assured to provide requisite healthcare, sports, mess, drinking water and other facilities to the prisoners and said that all genuine matters regarding provision of basic facilities will be redressed on priority basis.DM directed jail authorites to formulate a winter contingency plan for prisoners so that they can’t face any inconvenience during harsh winter conditions. He further added that the positive engagement of jail intimates would make their lives better and meaningful.

Chief Medical officer, Medical Superindent DH Pulwama  and other concerned officers and officials were present on the occasion.
