BBBP district task force meeting held in Pulwama

Pulwama 30 October 2019: The Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) District Task Force meet under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Pulwama , Dr. Raghav Langer was held today at DC office Complex Pulwama.

The Meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Pulwama Altaf Ahmad  Khan  ,SSP Chandan Kohili ,Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Assistant Commissioner Development  , Chief Education Officer ,District Information Officer, Dy CMO,District Social welfare officer, CDPOs and other officers and officials of the district .

During the meeting, DSWO briefed the DDC about the District Action Plan 2019-2020 formulated for the effective implementation of BBBP Programme in the District. It was decided in the meeting that special awareness programme in the form of symposium, painting competition, debates, cultural and mass awareness programmes would be organized in the district. The meeting was also informed that a wide spectrum of activities will be taken in order to reverse the declining child sex ratio in the district. Activities such as celebration of Girl Child Day on every month in which girl child born in the area will be felicitated.

Speaking on the occasion, DDC said that the parents have to ensure health, education and success of their daughters as well as contribute to the development of their talents .He said that despite many girls achieving high in various fields the stark reality for most girls is that they are still deprived of basic rights like equal access to education ,health married off early child  etc . As a result they remain economically disempowered ,abused and violated. He said decline in sex ratio is a major indicator of women disempowerment as it reflects both pre birth discrimination manifested through gender biased sex selection and post birth discrimination against girls. He also directed line departments to work cordially for the succeful implantation of BBBP programme in the District.
