District Administration Pulwama in coloboration with DIPR observed Disability Week in Pulwama .

Social Welfare Deptt and HOPE Disability distributed Prosthetic Aid among beneficiaries.

Pulwama 10 Nov 2019: In connection with World Disability Day  Department of Information &Public Releations (DIC) Pulwama in collobration with District Social Welfare Officer Pulwama and Hope Disability  Centre (She Hope Society) NGO today organized a grand function here at Circuit House Pulwama .

District Development Commissioner Pulwama Dr Raghav Langer was the chief guest on the occasion.

In his speech ,DDC said that Persons With Disability are inalienable and  integral  part of our society and our endeavor is to empower them for inclusive ,equitable and sustainable development .He assured that all the demands raised by Handicapped Association will be redressed as early as possible and orders for the construction of ramps at various places for easy access of the the Physically Challenged Persons.

While deliberating upon the Mental Disability and its challenges  , Dr Majid Shafi Consultant, Neurophychatrist  added that mindset and behavioral practices  towards Mentally Disabled Persons is to be changed and  the stereotypes are  to be broken.     He said that Mental Disorders  including  Schizophrenia, Bipolar Disorder, Reading Disorders and Addictive behaviors is a challenge and needs to be tackled wisely and professionally.While as Executive Director HOPE Disability centre highlighted the issues and problems faced by Disabled Persons on different forums . He said a complete Rehabilitation  Centre will be setup in Pulwama to facilitate the Physically challenged persons so that they would not travel to other districts.

Tehsil social welfare officer informed the participant about of social welfare Department for the welfare of Specially disabled Persons.

On the occasion ,  DDC distributed Wheel Chairs ,hearing Aids and other appliances among disabled persons provided  by Social Welfare Department HOPE Disability.

J&K handicapped Association also put forth a memorandum to DDC regarding the issues faced by them.

Earlier , Artists of Cultural Wing DIPR presented a Skit and Song before the audience. Which were highly appreciated.

Besides Additional Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Ashraf Hakak,  District Information Officer , Chief Medical Officer,District Social Welfare Officer, ,Cultural Officer DIPR  Riyaz Ahmad Fazili, Assistant Cultural Officer Syed Shakeel Shan ,Executive Director Hope Disability Centre and  huge gathering of Physically Challenged Persons  were present on the occasion.
