DC Pulwama inspected the embankments of river Jhelum and committed to save the Heritage of Jehlum.

Pulwama 14 Nov 2019 : District Development Commissioner  Pulwama Dr Raghav langer    said that spurt  efforts are needed to save the life line of river Jehlum  which is  being threatened by pollution and encroachments.

DDC made  these remarks while installing a sign board on the bank of river Jhelum at Awantipora conveying a message “Let Us Keep Jehlum Pollution Free”  . He said Jhelum has witnessed heavy pollution over the decades with liquid and solid waste from home toilets and the  focus of adminstation is to mitigate the river from futher pollution and  contamination.

.He directed I&FC ,MC Awantipora and line departments to  carry  out a joint survey  identify the  point  sources of pollution and ensure their immediate plugging

Later, DDC also visited water filtration plant at Awantipora and inspected functioning of  machinery here . He directed ADC Awantipora for collection of fresh samples for water quality analysis so  that clean water is provided to each household .
