DDC Pulwama for adoption of sustainable Agricultural practices in doubling the income of farmers
Pulwama 21Jan 2020: District Development Commissioner Pulwama Dr Raghav Langer convened a meeting of officers to review the progress under Horticulture and Agriculture sectors in the district at DC office Complex Pulwama.
The meeting was attended by Chief Agriculture Officer, Chief Horticulture Officer and other concerned officers and officials .
On the occasion, Chief Agriculture Officer informed the chair that under Union Territory Budget Rs 868.477 lakhs were allotted in which Rs 14.3575 lakhs were expended as on 31-12 -2019 where as 6.50 lacs were allotted for model organic farm villages of Patalbagh and Tengpona . Under KCC scheme against a target of 60300 Form Operating Families(FOF) out of which 48889 FOF have been provided loans amounting to Rs. 630.2085 crore stands disbursed till date. It was intimated that 1187 samples were registered against the target of 2386 in which 653 samples were analyzed as on 10-10-2019 .It was also said that 60 Ha will be brought under Organic Vegetable Cultivation for achieving annual production of 3600MTs of organic vegetables in the district. While giving project details and achievements under National saffron Mission the meeting was apprised that 3200ha area is scheduled to be covered in the district in which 1919.35 ha have been covered as on 30-09-2019 where as incentive of Rs 8400.19 lacs have been paid under rejuvenation component .
While reviewing the Horticulture Sector DDC was informed that under different Schemes Rs 629.4 lakhs were expended while as under Major Components 25 Mini Tractors ,71 Power Tiller 8bh & above,71 Power Tiller below 8bhp ,800 Motor Power Sprayer ,120 Bush Cutter ,59 Deep Bore Well ,77 Pack House ,21 Vermicompost Units were Provided to the Orchardists of District during Last Financial Year (2018-19).It was disclosed that 242 cases of KCC were forwarded to different banks in which 197 cases were sanctioned till date amounting to Rs 327.46 lac. Wherea as 10 Hectares area was covered under Ultra High density programme during 2019-20 through Private Entrepreneurs.
While reviewing the Agriculture and Horticulture sectors DDC said that these sectors are vital to economy and sustainable development. He stressed for the adoption of sustainable agricultural practices and novel methods in doubling the farmers income . While expressing his displeasure over the trend of land conversion particularly Saffron Land for commercial and residential purposes DDC stressed for effective measures to curb the menace as it may create devastating impact on ecology in future . He directed CAO and CHO for effective implementation of schemes related to welfare of farmers and ensure timely expenditure of funds available under various schemes .
He directed concerned officers to sensitize the farmers about the use of latest technology in the field of Agriculture and Horticulture so that farmers can yield best quantity and quality of produce from their fields .
