Horticulture deptt organizes Farm Machinery Mela at Fruit Mandi Pircho Pulwama.

Adopt sustainable farm practices :DDC Pulwama

Pulwama 15 February 2020:Department of Horticulture today organised one day district level farm machinery mela and awareness program for farmers under Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH)  here  at Fruit Mandi Pircho Pulwama.

District Development Commissioner Pulwama Dr Raghav Langer was the chief guest on the occasion.

During the mela, Experts from SKUAST and Krishi Vigyan Kendra acquainted the farmers about latest techniques of farming  and other problems related to  Horticulture produce.

In his address, DDC urged the farming community to adopt scientific techniques to enhance the production and productivity.He enjoined upon the farmers to approach Horticulture department for latest trends, techniques and schemes .He advised farmers that  focus should be given to organic farming and adoption of  sustainable  farm practices .He also added that the base of farm activities should be widened so that livelihood measures get augmented .

DDC directed  the concerned authorities for 100%coverage of eligible farmers  under KCC and urged people to avail the benefit of the various flagship scheme to double their  income.

Terming land conversion an alarming trend DDC said that his administration is adopting a zero tolerance policy against the violators .

Chief Horticulture officer RK Kotwal acquainted the farmers about the benefits of ultra high density plantation and departmental schemes.

On the occasion, farmer’s also shared their views and apprised the DDC about various problems being faced by them.

Earlier, DDC took round of the stalls   installed by private vendors displaying various type farm machinery.

Later, various machineries including spray motors, brush cutters, tillers etc were distributed among farmers on subsidised rates.

Besides Chief Agriculture officer, experts from SKUAST-K, KVK, sizable  number of farmers participated in the event.
